The GAC (Gateway Athletic Conference) is comprised of fifteen schools who have joined together for their mutual benefit. The schools are members of the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA). The conference is divided into two divisions based on enrollment. The North division includes schools with smaller enrollment and the South division for larger enrollment schools.

The schools choose all conference teams for many sports by a vote of the head coaches. In some sports, medallists are recognized as the all conference members.

Most sports have divisional representation on all conference teams. A few sports only have conference level teams, as there is not a sufficient number of teams to be divided by division.
